This years Players Championship showed us, once again, how intimidating hole number 17 can be. But how does it compare to Number 12 at Augusta? Number 12 has a long and storied history, ever since Augusta opened in January 1933. In April 1990 Rick Reilly, Sports Illustrated, wrote a wonderful article on the perils of Number 12, including the 1980 Masters where Tom Weiskopf shot an unbelievable 13; by the way he still holds the record for the worst score on Number 12 during the Masters. Rick Reilly richly recounted the history of this great golf hole.
I wish someone would write the sequel.
