Golf And Our Disabled Veterans

Golf and Disabled Veterans

Read Article  by Matt Calkins

We all know that golf is the most stressful relaxation you can have, but it is also very therapeutic, because when you are on the golf course the only thing that matters is trying to play better than you did the day before. So, it stands to reason that the therapeutic side of golf would be great for our disabled veterans, but we also know that golf courses are not handicap friendly.

However, there is one exception, American Lake Veterans Golf Course in Tacoma Washington. It is a unique setting, in that it is “the only golf course in the nation designed specifically for the rehabilitation of wounded and disabled veterans.” And, nine of the eighteen holes were designed, pro bono, by Jack Nicklaus. Golf is that great game that always finds a way to give back.

If you were lucky enough to play a round of golf this Memorial Day weekend, hopefully you took a moment to give thanks to all those who serve and protect our freedom.
